Good news for fans of the RPG title, Crimson Desert! The development team at Pearl Abyss has introduced a much-awaited feature to the game: cross-platform saving. This update arrives approximately four months after the game's initial release, fulfilling a popular request from its dedicated player base.
The latest update, Patch 1.14.00, rolled out on Thursday, July 16, bringing cross-save capabilities to nearly all platforms. macOS users will receive this functionality in a subsequent update. To activate cross-save, players need to navigate to the game's save menu, where they will find instructions to access the cross-save portal. This process involves logging into their platform accounts and linking them with a Pearl Abyss ID. New IDs can be created if needed. Upon successful linking, players can return to the game, refresh their cross-save settings, and choose a cross-save slot to store their data. This enables a unified Crimson Desert save file accessible across multiple devices.
While this new feature offers great convenience, there are a few limitations. Each Pearl Abyss ID can only be linked to one account per platform, including Epic Games, PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox. Furthermore, only one cross-save slot is allocated per ID, requiring manual saving. Although players can unlink and relink platform accounts, unlinking all accounts from a Pearl Abyss ID will permanently erase cloud-stored cross-save data. Therefore, it is crucial to save your progress locally if you intend to unlink all platforms but wish to retain your game data.
Patch 1.14.00 also includes other significant improvements beyond the cross-save feature. While the game's control system still has room for refinement, Pearl Abyss has implemented several fixes as detailed in their patch notes. These include resolving a quest-completion issue in "A Dwarf's Concern" and fixing a bug where character control was lost when a pet interacted with the bed. Combat and action mechanics have also seen adjustments, such as standardizing Damiane's "Skystep" input and correcting an interruption bug for "Aerial Force Palm" during free-fall. Localization errors have been addressed, enhancing the quality across all languages. Miscellaneous fixes include improving mount animation at high speeds, restoring sound effects after the Praevus the Ancient battle, and fixing an issue with "Ator's Orb" sound effects, as well as enabling NPCs to pass through open wooden gates. Crimson Desert is now available on Mac, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
The introduction of cross-save in Crimson Desert represents a significant step towards enhancing player convenience and accessibility. This update not only responds directly to community feedback but also demonstrates the developer's commitment to improving the overall gaming experience. Such features foster a more integrated and flexible gaming environment, allowing players to enjoy their adventures seamlessly across different devices, thereby promoting a more positive and engaging interaction with the game world.
